Palawan Part I: El Nido

Palawan 5 Before we left for our end of year holidays people told me,

“Typhoons never reach Palawan because it’s too far west!”

“The end of December and early January are the driest and best times to visit Palawan!”

I can definitely dispel both of those sayings and say first hand that they are myths!

Everest Base Camp

Picture 1

I didn’t intend to interrupt my Philippines programming so soon, but I was having a bit of a moment, and started reminiscing by reading my old blog (I’m not even going to share it with you – it’s a bit embarrassing to look at now!). There are a few defining travel moments for me on there that I will have to re-blog here…and reaching Everest Base Camp is one of them.

5 things: Travel Finds

untitled5.3 I don’t get the opportunity to go shopping here in the Philippines often due to my busy work schedule, but when I get the chance to go to Manila – a mall is always on the itinerary! Last weekend my husband and I went to Makati again to spend some time with my niece and eat some delicious food (more on that later!). Here are a few things I bought that I think would make great souvenirs or presents for your friends back home – wherever your home is:

  1. Acacia wooden bowls (Kultura Filipino, SM Makati)
  2. Traditional Filipino embroidered coin purse (Kultura Filipino, SM Makati)
  3. Soludos espadrilles (Shoe Salon, Glorietta 3, Ayala Centre, Makati)
  4. ‘How to be Parisian’ book (Powerbooks, Greenbelt 4, Ayala Centre, Makati)
  5. Pearl ring set ( H&M, SM Makati)

Happy shopping!

Isla de Gigantes – Part II

untitled3

After traveling to some beautiful places around the Philippines since our trip to Isla de Gigantes, I still can’t help comparing everything to it. Perhaps it was fact that we had no expectations for the trip, or the fact that we had beautiful beaches all to ourselves or the fact it was actually sunny (!!)…I’m not sure.

But while looking through our photos, I realized that I only gave you a small taste of Isla de Gigantes in my previous post. Here are some more photos to help you understand why I can’t get this place out of my head.
